HECO-Schrauben Romania inaugurated its new photovoltaic park on 2 April, which represents a significant milestone on the road to sustainability. The plant, which is equipped with 2,808 PV modules and has an output of 1.6 MWp, is used exclusively for HECO's own needs and does not feed into the public grid. This means that HECO already covers 22% of its electricity requirements at the Romanian site with its own energy production.
The opening ceremony was attended by numerous guests, including the mayor of Câmpia Turzii, as well as representatives of the Hettich shareholder family and the advisory boards of HECO and SFS. In his speech, Stefan Hettich emphasised: ‘We came here in 2007 to establish and expand the company. Our investments are only possible thanks to the excellent co-operation with the local administration. We want to develop both the company and the community.’
Mayor Dorin Lojigan praised HECO-Schrauben's initiative and the adoption of the German model in technology, training and the green energy system.
The project is in line with HECO's strategy, which aims to reduce CO2 emissions by 90% by 2030. ‘Our entire production requires electricity. With the solar park, we are achieving independence in our power supply and making an ecological contribution to the environment,’ explained Achim Carstanjen, Managing Director of HECO-Schrauben.
HECO-Schrauben has been based in Câmpia Turzii since 2007 and has continued to develop ever since. With almost 200 employees, the company is an important employer in the region. In addition to the new solar park, HECO has successfully completed four other construction projects in the last 18 years.
‘We are proud to be taking another step towards a sustainable future with this solar park,’ concludes Carstanjen. The official inauguration of the photovoltaic park marks the beginning of a new era for the HECO-Schrauben company, which will continue to work towards sustainable production and pursue a climate-neutral strategy.
